Sacramento, CA.  The 2015 West Coast Pro Am Tour made its way to the Haggin Oaks FootGolf Course this past weekend, and boy did it deliver.

On the line, several spots for the US National FootGolf Team, as well as an array of cash prizes and good solid competition across the board.

The event was very well organized and major kudos to the staff at Haggin Oaks as well as the AFGL (American Foot Golf League) for making the event a truly memorable experience.

Braving the hot weather, FootGolfers from as far away as Hungary, Argentina and Australia braved the elements to showcase their skills in this last stop of the West Coast Series of Pro Am events, put on by the AFGL.

Just a week prior, the AFGL event was held in Tacoma and our very own Julian Nash came away the victor after a stellar two day performance and pocketing $6k in prize money as well as securing a roster spot on the US Footgolf National Team in preparation for the FootGolf World Cup in 2016 in Argentina.

With a few roster spots still up for grabs, the allure of playing on a National Team as well as the experience of a Pro Am event only a two hour drive away, Oakland FootGolf Club had six players enter the event, of those six, one placed 2nd overall (Jorge Barragan Jr.) , 4th overall (Julian Nash) and we had the first Senior Division champion from our club, Mr. Jorge Barragan Sr.

Nash found himself in a deadlock with Argentina's own Matias Perrone and the two would enter what amounted to an epic back and fourth from the 18th hole.

Neither player would give as they matched each other shot for shot and after three rounds, they would go to the rule book and go closest to the cup to decide the winner.

With Perrone going first, Nash by rule would have to turn his back so as to not gain an advantage. Perrone appeared to have gotten a strong shot, but placement left little to be desired. Nash would have to just get a good line and 4th place would be his.

As soon as he kicked it, it was clear. Nash locked in 4th place and a newfound respect between Nash and Perrone would be forged.

Lilli Bewly, a Sacramento FootGolf living legend, made her presence felt and dueled to the end with club mate Jessica Hewins as they went to an eventual playoff hole where Bewly would win out.

Bewly swept the Pro Am circuit by claiming first place in four straight events, starting with the East coast and finishing with the West Coast Series of the events.

Arturo Barragan from California FootGolf Club did his thing and led the charge on day 2 as he dueled with cousin Jorge Barragan Jr., Ken Fleck, who also secured a National Team spot and Julian Nash who secured his place last week in Tacoma.

Arturo Barragan was the first to claim a spot on the National Team as he was top American during the East Coast Series.

The fans came out in force to show their support of a large local contingent of FootGolfers and they definitely got what they came for.  A day filled with amazing shots, drama that was enough to make a Tele-novela jealous and an up close look at some of California's finest.

Up next, a grand finale of sorts will take place in Chicago this October and the full roster for the US National FootGolf Team should round out into place.

Thank you to the AFGL for an Amazing event.  Roberto, Laura and Juan you guys did a great job.

Thank you to all the family and friends who came out to support Oakland FootGolf Club and most importantly thanks for believing in this amazing sport.

See you all on the course!

Just want to remind everyone that tournament season is upon us, and as we approach the window for events to kick off, it's always best to stay active in checking for registration deadlines, fees, and tournament locations.  Scout the locations ahead of time so you can get a lay of the land and see where the pitfalls may be at the different courses.  Try different approaches at each hole to see if something yields better results and as always, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!!

Viva FOOTGOLF!

2015 is proving to be a huge year for FootGolf, we are excited as a club to grow in numbers and continue to experience as many courses as possible.  We knew when we embarked on this journey last year that things were only going to keep pushing forward and with what we've seen so far in the addition of new courses, more tournaments, International competition offerings, and a host of other things coming, it's only a matter of time before we see some really interesting things occur before our very eyes.  Can't wait!
